OVER 400 SHORT MOVIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD SET TO BE SHOWCASED HOLLYWOOD
Hollywood August 10, 2016—-The organizers of the 12th annual HollyShorts Film Festival are announcing today that DOWNWARD HIRO directed by Bry Thomas Sanders and Kelly Perine has been officially selected for the upcoming festival and will compete for $60,000 in post-production services from Company 3 at the event. Downward Hiro will play on August 20th at the 5:00 PM Block at the TCL Chinese 6 Theaters in Hollywood, CA.
The lineup includes 400 of the top short movies from almost every major continent. The festival received a record of nearly 3,000 submissions this year a festival record. HollyShorts, which was named “The Cannes of Short Film Festivals” by Indie Wire, and is consistently ranked as one of the top film festivals each year by MovieMaker.
The organizers bill HollyShorts as “The Filmmakers Festival.” The festival will take place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres August 11-20, 2016. The HollyShorts Film Conference, which will feature heavy hitter panel discussions, will take place at IgnitedSpaces August 12-19th.
Downward Hiro tells the story of a troubled man, on a downward spiral, who is called back to work. After a vigorous workout, the only thing that will quiet his mind, he decides to accept the job and return to the world and work he abandoned. Over the course of a day, he finds out that his demons are going to be with him forever and stars Kelly Perine, (The Drew Carey Show, One to One) and Phil Morris, (Seinfeld, Atlantis: The Lost Empire). The film was produced by Marvin Glover, (Wedlocked, Our Father, & Last Call At Murray’s).
This year’s categories include: Live Action, Animation, Documentary, Web Series, Trailers, Commercial, Music Videos. Short genres range from Horror, Romance, Drama, Action, Comedy, Thrillers and much more.
